Sustainable architecture is a discipline that seeks to create buildings and spaces that are respectful of the environment, efficient in the use of resources, and healthy for their occupants. To achieve this, strategies such as the collection and storage of rainwater, the installation of efficient irrigation systems and the use of low consumption plumbing devices and accessories are used.

Some common strategies and techniques that can be used include bioclimatic design, which takes advantage of local climatic conditions to maximize energy efficiency; passive design, which uses natural elements such as sunlight and ventilation to reduce reliance on mechanical systems.
